Writer's Workshop: WHAT Would I Change About JAKE?

This Week's Prompts 
1.) If you could change anything about your pet, what would it be? 
2.) Write a love poem to a favorite food.

5.) Social media is an amazing way to reunite with old friends. Describe a good or not-so-good experience you've had with it.
Jake, when we first got him in SoCal 
Bet you can't guess which one I chose... LOL!!
Meet Jake! He is the oldest of my lovable pups.
(YES! I AM aware that he is in need of a good groom...)
He is approximately 13 years old. I say approximately because we gt\ot him through a rescue so we go with a best guess. Actually, their best guess was off and our vet later informed us that he was at LEAST 3 years older than what they'd claimed. I DO wish he were younger!! I wish he were healthier. It makes me sad to see him age. We have already come close to losing him several times. He has Cushing's Disease, arthritis, cataracts, big moles growing all over (vet says he's just getting old...),  twice what he should weigh, and having mini seizures. He probably has doggie sleep apnea the way he snores!! LOL!! I WISH I could take all of his ailments away!! 
April of 2007 was the first time he tried to die on us... 
They diagnosed his Cushing's and told us 
he probably wouldn't make it 18 months... 
We are always sure he has plenty of water (tendency to dehydrate with the Cushing's...) and give him a good diet most of the time... We do give him treats... CARROTS!! He loves them!  ;D And things to chew on. He has soft beds in different rooms to be comfy. We put in a doggie door and a ramp so he doesn't have to do the stairs. We are cherishing the time we do have with this sweet dog. He does still have quality of life... so as long as that's the case, we will keep on loving him! He still plays with us at times... He still begs for treats... He' still happy to greet us... He still tries to pose with my clients... He still tries to get kisses from Jazzi... 
So for now, we'll keep him close to our hearts...
It will be so hard to let him go. *sniff*
Even though this isn't my dog in the clip below, 
this song chokes me up every time... 
When you hear this again, it will probably 
be to a slideshow of my little friend.

What a sweet dog! We once took in a lost Yorkie until her owner was found...and fell in love with her in the process. Last year, I lost both my Cockers to old age. It's heartbreaking, they were my faithful friends. Stopping by from Mama Kat's.

Oh my goodness that picture of him stealing kisses...so cute!
It's hard when they get older. I agree, I wish they didn't. I'm on the other end of that now after losing my 15 year old dog last year, there is now a new puppy. I wrote about her as well.

My pups are all still pretty young, but one of our cats is getting older. I'm dreading the day she goes. :(

Our dogs LOVE carrots too! The one also eats asparagus like it's going out of style!

Man that was sweet and sad. (Sniff, sniff) I slept in the basement for the last week of my last dogs life. I still miss her but 3 carrot eating newbies tend to keep me busy :)

What an absolute sweetie! I am so glad that he has such a loving family to live with--it makes such a difference! Jake is the only other dog I ever heard of who LOVES carrots as treats- my brother's dog did too!

Your puppy is lovely and I know what you mean about aging pets tugging at you heart as our two cats are 11 now and we've had them since they were 8 weeks old. It's sad seeing the physical changes beginning.
